A Lo-fi Police Chase Animation

Midnight Pursuit is a stylized vector animation that captures the excitement and tension of a high-speed police chase through a neon-lit urban landscape at night. This project was designed to merge a lo-fi aesthetic with minimalist vector art, resulting in a moody and atmospheric experience that embraces the allure of simplicity and rhythm.

The animation showcases a side-scrolling city environment with layered parallax motion, radiant lights, and stylized vehicles all accompanied by a hyp soundtrack. The motion is purposefully smooth and controlled, focusing on mood rather than chaos, allowing the ambient city glow and pacing to convey the narrative.

Tools Used:

• Adobe Illustrator – for creating clean, flat-style vector assets: vehicles, cityscapes, and environmental elements.
• Adobe After Effects – for animating scenes, adding lighting effects, parallax movement, and camera dynamics.
• Adobe Premiere Pro – for audio-video compositing, color grading, and syncing the final visuals with the lo-fi soundtrack and ambient sound effects.

Goals & Focus:
The aim was to explore how storytelling and tension can be conveyed without dialogue or complex scenes — just through pacing, lighting, and music. The lo-fi aesthetic allows for a unique visual mood that feels modern and nostalgic at the same time, offering viewers an engaging, bite-sized visual experience.
